About ISTE
The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is the leading National professional non-profit making Society for the Technical Education System in our country with the motto of Career Development of Teachers and Personality Development of Students and overall development of our Technical Education System. Being the only National organization of educators in the field of Engineering and Technology, ISTE effectively contributes in various mission of the Union Government. The strength of ISTE is the strong base it has in technical institutions in the country.
The major objectives of ISTE are:
To assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industry and other organization.
To provide quality training programs to teachers and administrators of technical institutions to update their knowledge and skills in their fields of activity.
To provide guidance and training to students to develop better learning skills and personality.
About The Convention
The 18 state-level ISTE student convention is jointly organized and conducted by the ISTE Karnataka Section and the Vemana Institute of Technology, Bangalore, with the theme “Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Future”.
The convention is to provide an opportunity for the students to showcase and share their innovative skills in addressing the pressing challenges of our times such as Healthcare, Renewable energy, Environment etc., using cutting-edge technologies.
This platform fosters technical talent through competitive events of creative insights and also encourages teamwork required to play a lead role in the global arena.
The convention helps to build a strong network of student technocrats of muIti-skills for sustainable progress in the future.
Registration Details
Rs.250/- Per student for convention ( for non ISTE members, inclusive of any two events )
Rs.200/- Per student for convention ( for ISTE members, inclusive of any two events )
Rs.50/- Additional participation per event
Rs.200/- for accommodation per student per day
Cash prize will be awarded to winners and participation certificate to all.

Report on 18th ISTE Karnataka State Level student Convention
The 18th ISTE Karnataka State Level student Convention was jointly organized and conducted by the ISTE Karnataka Section and Vemana Institute of Technology, Bangalore in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University,(VTU) Belagavi, with the theme “Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Future” on 6th May 2023. The convention intended to provide opportunities for students to showcase and share their innovative skills in addressing challenges of our times related to health care, renewable energy and environment using cutting edge technologies and also to increase team work require to play a lead role in the global arena and to build a strong network of students technocrats of multi-skills for sustainable progress in the future. The event was a grand success, and here is a brief report on the proceedings.
The convention was inaugurated by the dignitaries present viz., President of the convention Sri. S Jayarama Reddy, Karnataka Reddy Jana Sangha, the Chief Guest, Dr. Suresh D S, Chairman ISTE, Karnataka Section and Director Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology (CIT), Group of Institutions and Guest of honour, Dr. B P Singh, Assistant Director,Indian Enterprises Development Services (IEDS), Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises. (MSME) New Delhi.The members of National Executive Council ISTE, Dr. S.B Sangappa, Dr. J. Prakash, Dr. M.S. Govinde Gowda, Dr. Devaraju S.B and Prof. Vrushabendrappa, the former chairman ISTE Karnataka. The office brears and management committee members of Karnataka Reddy Jana Sangha. The Principal of Vemana IT. Dr.Vijayasimha Reddy B G & the Convention Chair.
The Vice Principal Dr. Chandra Shekar S M welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest, Dr. Suresh D S, Guest of honour Dr. B P Singh, the Convention Chair, Dr.Vijayasimha Reddy B G and the President of the convention Sri. S Jayarama Reddy have shared their valuable insights in the field of education and technology regarding sustainable development for the future.The authorities of ISTE released the Souvenir cantered on the theme followed by the felicitation of the ISTE best student chapter award, where in 23 best students were selected from different colleges of Karnataka and honoured. The ISTE Karnataka Section also felicitated the host Institution. Prof. Elavarsi, HoD Civil Engg expressed gratitude and proposed vote of thanks on behalf of Vemana Institute of Technology to all the dignitaries present.
The convention hosted twenty two events such as Project Exhibition (Aavishkar 2023) / Paper Presentation / Ideathon / Auto CADD / Tech Quiz / Best out of Waste / Technical Dumb Charades / Code Debugging / Embedded & IoT / Code Correction etc., followed by non-technical events. We have received an overwhelming response of 556 participants from totally 59 colleges across Karnataka state.
The details of the major events conducted are:
Project Exhibition 108 students participated(IT: 45 teams,ECE: 39 teams, ME: 14teams and Civil: 10 teams).
Paper Presentation received 100+ and shortlisted 80 participants
Treasure hunt: 65 teams participated
Technical Quiz: 75 teams
Ideation: 40 teams
Code Debugging: 35 participants
Photography: 25 participants
Best out of Waste: 35teams
Short Film Making: 10 teams participated.
The convention concluded with the valedictory function, Dr Ramakrishna, Prof and Head, CSE Dept., briefed on the proceeding of the convention followed by prize distribution with cash awards and achievement certificate to winners. Finally, Dr.Rajanna Prof and Head, ISE Dept., proposed the vote of thanks.
The 18th ISTE Karnataka State Level student Convention was a grand success, and it provided an excellent platform for educators and professionals in the education sector to exchange their knowledge, ideas, and experiences. The event had an excellent mix of events, which covered a broad range of topics related to education and technology. The exhibition, paper presentation and ideathon was an added attraction, which allowed the attendees to learn about the latest products and technologies in the education sector. Overall, the convention was a great learning experience for all the attendees, and inspired the participants to embrace the possibilities of innovative technologies and work towards building a more sustainable future. We look forward to host many more of such Mega Events.
