Basic Science

Department of Basic sciences established in the year 1999. Presently the department functions with nineteen teaching faculties; among them five doctorates and five are pursuing their doctoral degrees. Faculties are teaching in different disciplines like Engineering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Constitution of India, Professional Ethics and Human Rights and Technical English to first and second year level. Basic Science Department has two VTU recognized research centers with 6 research scholars in Mathematics and Chemistry. All faculties are actively involved in research activities in the field of Fluid Dynamics, Fuzzy Optimization, Differential Geometry, Polymers, Nanomaterials, Heterogeneous catalysis and Work Ethics. Department has proved its achievements in the area of research by publishing papers in National and International journals of high impact factor. The faculties have attended International and National seminars, workshops and symposium to upgrade latest developments in science and technology. Also department encourages students’ seminars and projects along with co-curricular activities like quiz, debate, essay writing, science exhibition and guest lecturers to enhance their knowledge and build confidence among them.

CONFERENCES/SEMINARS/WORKSHOP: Presented a paper entitled "Diffusion in Oscillatory Flow Through a pipe saturated by Porous media" in the 19th International conference of the Jangjeon Mathematical Society held in the Department of Mathematics, Bangalore University, Bangalore from 22-02-2007 to 24-02-2007.
Presented a paper entitled "Convection in a Porous Medium with Horizontal and Vertical Temperature Gradient using Thermal non-equillibrium model" in the International Conference on "Frontiers Fluid Dynamics" organized under the aegis of UGC-Center for Advanced Studies in Fluid mechanics, Department of Mathematics, Bangalore University, Bangalore during 31st August to 2nd September 2009.
Participated in the National Symposium on "Recent trends in Fluid Mechanics" held at Department of Mathematics, Bangalore University, Bangalore on 7th and 8th January 2008.
Participated in a Two Week workshop on "Computational Fluid dynamics" as a Continuing Educational Programme during January 9-23, 2008 in BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore, under TEQIP.
